He'll look at the ground and smile every now and then. Why does he do that?

Whenever I am talking to this guy (we recently become close), he'll look at the ground and smile every now and then. It is this little discreet smile and it is driving me crazy!

He'll smile like that when I crack a corny joke or ask him about himself. It is like he has to pause, smile at himself and then answer my question.

There are other things that make me wonder if he is into me...but right now, I wanted to know 'What on earth is going on behind that smile?'

He might be shy about talking to you. my crush does that as well. This stupid little smiles just make me believe they have something for the girl they at talking to. Whether it is affection or just shyness is up to him. it's extremely hard to distinguish between secret affection, shyness, or just awkwardness. it really all depends on how he treats you other ten the smiles and how he treats other girls. If he smiles at the ground to other girls then Irma just his personality and he does it all the time. however If you notice that he gets nervous and shy only around you then you possibly have a chance with him because this is a distinct sign that they don't want you to think badly of them so they try to plan out what they are going to say but it fails and they forget and become nervous and possibly look at the ground or try to avoid eye contact to be less nervous. :D but truthfully it depends on how he:

•views you.

•treats you.

•treats other girls.

•acts differently from his friends (girls&boys) then with you.

Thanks for the heads up. I can already answer so of your other questions. He is a super respectful guy. He's touchy feely to and I noticed that he was with other girls to a point. What made me start to wonder was this gigantic hug that I got followed quite quickly by a rushed explanation as to why.

I haven't seen him around his friends much, other than noticing that he is pretty quite and reservered. I've seen him strutting around and air guitaring to Taylor Swift when I was in the room...

Depending on the Guy, hugs might be something he does to everyone or just to you. ha ha it's really hard to judge but from what you've told me he seems really cute strutting around to Taylor Swift. >^0^< and a pretty nice guy. I think you should talk to him about it but bring it up slowly like asking if he wants to go to the movies or something with you (just the two of you) or with a group of friends :D

The hug was special and I know that because he isn't a hugger - not with girls. A mutual friend practically lost her eyebrows in her hairline because she was so stunned by his action. He chases me around for conversation, has watched me with longing eyes (I completely shut in on myself because I was so nervous) and is always really cute and funny with me and sending me subtle compliments! We are going camping with a huge group of friends next week, fingers crossed I can score a lift with him!
