Are you a naturally a happy go lucky person?

If your answer is yes. Please explain what's it like to be so happy go lucky all the time. Some of us, myself included. Really can't believe in being naturally happy and incredibly outgoing all the time. I envy you all completely. Please share your thoughts :)

Well my answer is that I am happy go lucky, but I'm not "incredibly outgoing all the time." Actually, I'm probably one of the quietest, most introverted people you would probably know if you ever met me in real life. As for how I'm happy?

I just like to focus on the positives in life. I know I'm incredibly lucky to live the life I have, and I do believe that making a conscious effort to recognize that there is little control we have over what happens in this life so we should just enjoy the ride. I take life as it comes, and sometimes it really really sucks and feels like nothing will ever get better. Then as time passes, the pain fades away and I can look at the positives in life again. I think its important to get really excited for the small things in life. I can't tell you how many times people I know have laughed about how happy I'll get over the thought of a really good piece of cake or something inconsequential like that. Yeah, I know that piece of cake will have no impact on my life but its the small things like that which add up quickly throughout the day until I get told I smile way too much.

If something small happens that bums me out, I usually let that go. I have the belief that if something won't matter in 5 years, its not worth getting upset about. Its basically the opposite of how I go about looking at the positive. I might feel bad about something for a little bit but I've learned to quickly forget it and put it behind me. Honestly, the people I know who struggle with depression do the exact opposite of this. They quickly forget the small, inconsequential good things in their life but they obsess over the small, inconsequential bad things. If you focus on all the good things you experience, and ignore most of the bad you will be far happier than if you focus on all of the bad things and ignore most of the good.

I don't know if you can entirely control your outlook on life though. I've read studies about peoples memories and people with depression had a much harder time remembering good things. I don't know if that memory stuff is controlled by how you look at things and forcing yourself to change your outlook will help, or if its something genetic/developed at a young age that might be permanently wired into your brain. The optimist in me thinks if people worked really hard to change the way they see the world, they can effect the way their brain is wired. But I'm not a neuroscientist or psychologist or anyone with any expertise in the field of studying brains and what makes people happy.

Yeah I'm a really happy person, even when I'm sad disappointed it doesn't last for long I'll go straight back to my usual self happy and positive. Everyone always compliments of how happy and positive I am and that's a great compliment to me. Partly is natural but other part I had to learn it I think I just appreciate the beauty of life a lot, also I'm extremely thankful for everything I have I consider myself very lucky just for the fact that I'm alive and get to have a bed to sleep in food everyday the list is endless so many people get so got up in problems they forget to look at everything they have. Also ever time something doesn't go my way or I feel really disappointed I think "rejection is God protection" so I start thinking maybe this is happening for a really good reason maybe this is for the best so even in my moments of pain I smile and feel grateful even if I don't see it in the moment I know it's goanna be for the best in the end and it's always like that. Basically I have the same joy has a child because I see live has a child.

Yep that's me! I think I ended up this way because I watched Spongebob growing up haha. It kinda got in my head that "if I'm optimistic and cheerful and enthusiastic all the time, people will enjoy being around me." Which has pretty much proven to be true! And I feel good about myself when I'm positive, too.

And the other answerer reminded me, another reason I'm this way is because I went through a lot growing up. My dad was abusive, I moved every few years and I changed schools almost every single year, I was bullied, I didn't do well in school because of a learning disability, and I spent some time being depressed and suicidal. Staying positive was the only way I didn't lose my mind haha.

I'm point blank realistic about things going on in my life. These happy go lucky people didn't had many bad things happen to them. Whenever I have someone tell me some uplifting dirt they read somewhere I just tell them a story; a real one from my life, not heard from others. You realize they had everything in life and only good stuff happened to them with nothing to worry, when they shut up and start to stare blankly at the ground. You can read on their faces "wow! do these things happen?!"

I disagree. I'm a happy go lucky person and it's largely because I did go through a lot growing up. The bad stuff that happened helped me be positive and appreciate the good things. It's really all about the attitude.

I wouldn't say I am always happy, I have my ups and my downs. However, I am known to crack jokes and laugh a lot in my crew of girls. I have been described as bubbly before and my sense of humour is just dumb lol. I laugh at the most stupidest things to the point where some of my friends have given me the "shut the f*** up" look before, lol.

No, I'm pretty much the opposite, with very small and very rare spurts of happiness. The naturally happy go lucky people kind of annoy me. I'm so horrible that I want others to feel as miserable as I do.

Try not to have this attitude, work on yourself. I don't know what you have gone through to make make you like this but you owe it to yourself to be happy. It's the best feeling ever, find it. :)
