+1 yNot as much as lucky, but blessed and have favor; seeing as I am one of the "poor middle-class." I had one job nineteen years, back in 2005 working at a Grocery store as a Retail Store Association (Bagger/Stocker), that job lasted for all about four months;
some mysterious stuff behind it, an elderly man accused me of either making him forget his change or trying to take it when checking out his groceries, and one of my co-workers were talking down to me saying, "It's gonna be me and you." I was threatened, when I was just doing my job, I almost lost my temper, went into one of the store aisles to get a knife and nearly put it to his throat, saying, "It's gonna be me and you, alright let it be me and you, I'm not afraid of you, I can take you." That's what I imagined doing, but that would have cost me my job even further, as I was always running late forces beyond my control.
I considered myself to be blessed I could have been a goner in many situations in my life, when my mom and her mom were arguing and the fights were almost always physical, I thought my grandmother was gonna kill my mom and then me, because God instructed me to protective of my family even; protecting them from each other, when they'd get violent with one another. I was scared of my grandmother's occasional temper when she was in her lat 50's and early 60's, she'd take out a sledgehammer to prove her point, when someone didn't do what she wanted or go outside and cut a switch! Or get a knife out. She held back sometimes, Elderly people scare me when they age 60, they change and start getting strict.
I also, fell down the basement stairs of my grandmother's house at 1 year old, been in some fights against my own will, one where my family and I were fighting other relatives, then I was fighting at 10 with a boy who didn't like me at first, dealt with bullies in high school of course afraid to disagree with them. I busted my head a second time at 10, been in a car accident at 18, most recently got CoVID, the symptoms rather. I'm socially inept and I get taken advantage of, but that's okay. Because I know my maker will make snap judgements on my actions and the actions of others, my mouth usually shoots off venom, I'd be the "Instigator." After all that, I consider myself lucky.

What a great question Pauly.
That the amazing woman I'm married to chose to marry me. She just as easily could have said no and had her pick of men.
That I have four healthy, smart, kind children who not only love me and mom but are nice to us and still give us hugs and talk to us.
That while I'm not rich by any means, I can put gas in the car (and I have a car) and a roof over my head and food on the table.
That I have a job I like with colleagues who are smart, decent, and I enjoy working with and a boss who is thoughtful and a good leader.
All of this EASILY could have gone another way. Ways.
(And I've got a cat and coffee.)

+1 yOh my goodness.
Despite of my mother's battling her own shit when I was growing up - she protected me. When my abuser got out of jail - she moved us to another country. - There's another luck, Denmark has no drinking age I began drinking heavily at 14, continued on/off with drugs until 24, I'm glad I'm just alive.
I've been lucky throughout my life to met people who cared, adults who listened and helped, even just for a short while. I was lucky I went to boarding school - I got a sense of normal. I'm lucky I live in Denmark - my education wasn't out of reach. I'm lucky I'm in a place where I've everything I need + more and able to help others who've less.
I could go on but well that's a little. I'm a grateful little thing. 😅

+1 yLiving conditions, my choosen family, looks, a bit with money... I mean I was born in a poor family and now middle class for now but this one is going to get even better and otherwise uhm current friendships... maybe also past bad experiences and pain cause now looking back I learned a lot from them

With living conditions I mean being able to come to germany and have a secure country 1st world country to live in 🙏🏼
Oh and I was soooo damn really lucky to not grow up with my toxic relatives cause if I had I wouldn't be allowed to do shit, I wouldn't have any education, friends, work or any rights and would just kept getting beaten for breathing smh - +1 y
Thanks, me too haha 🙏🏼

Well that was also 20 years ago haha but still they got moderner in the big cities but still have their old views here and there and are overall okaaaay... well traditional.
But I know that my father was extrem and someone who hated woman and viewed us as his objects to own and I know for a fact that if she didn't took me and run for our lives, we wouldn't have any freedom - +1 y
Damn that's wild so Turkey was lowkey on some Iran stuff, back then. I saw a movie about how that country gets down when I was younger lol at least your mom was tough & got y'all outta the mess alotta women won't do that even with all the resources in the world lol so she's a G, it's funny cause the US is fucked up like that abit we got some racist states & my secure 1st world was California despite it being expensive and the politics here.
at least I can work and make money & nobody cares about my skin color, unlike Washington I could not do shit all there & they block you from work, so only option was military but that doesn't
last forever so you end up back there all to be offered felonious ways to make money and lose my freedom in prison.
So escaping turmoil is always the best thing to be in a peaceful mindset with freedom. - +1 y
Yeah it was and I'm sure it's still like that in some corners, I mean honor killing still exists smh And Iran would do so much better when they get religion out of politics... may they win their fight for freedom 🙏🏼
Yeah sounds awful too and like a vicious cycle... as if you don't have any other chances...
And I hear a lot about the race shit over there and it's just scary! - +1 y
Lol yeah all them countries need to stop that bullshit their is no reason to be doing all that over something that would be seen normal in many other countries and not breaking any laws at all.
And yeah it's not every state that's like that but many very it depends on the bullshit cities and how far down in corruption are they willing to go and if you actually see people of color actually working or are they on the streets doing dumb shit lol that will let you know if a state or city is actually bad or not. But to the racist bullshit ass states they can have it. I would much rather wake up to palm trees & clear skies then bullshit rain and snowy streets & grey ass skies hahaha - +1 y
Thanks, good to know lol Yeah as far as I hear it, some lot of places over there seem pretty racist and scary to be honest... I hope that goes away too🙏🏼 people in the past didn't not fight that long for freedom and against slavery just to be in the 21st century and still have racism... smh
- +1 y
Lol shits wild when u think about it but as long as im in a position to make money I'm not worried about nothing and nobody out here is worried about me at all hahaha
Glad to know Germany is cool but y'all gotta take the next step and move to the US next lol nah I'm sure Germany is great too lol I have a few ppls stationed out there. - +1 y
It's good that you're doing good 🙏🏼
Naah but yes Germany is actually great, smart modern people and security from the government as far as possible... it's just sometimes annoying with all the paperwork but as long as that is the issue I ain't complaining lol - +1 y
They don't pay for the paperwork and I wouldn't say they pay a lot but like the government does help out, if you check the requirements for different things they offer... like for example if your parents earn less, you get money for your studies and later have to pay back half of the money they gave you or the public schools are good and the private schools are actually affordable or if you don't earn enough you get a little contribution so you can pay your rent etc
And we do have homeless people but as far as I heard it's not nowhere near like in LA... also we have homeless shelters and actually as far as I know every homeless person could go to the government and ask for help but I'm not 100% sure about how that works
- +1 y
LA is bad when it comes to the homeless lol n our govs don't care at all lol but it sounds better then our gov cause u gotta pay back most ur school loans unless ur prior service or have it all waived lol n our Healthcare is Beyond horrible if ur broke lol
You got no insurance but get hurt or shot, they patch you up then send u back out cause they can't have taking up room hahaha. We different out here I love this country just not our current leadership. - +1 y
Oh yeah my English teacher would "joke" about American healthcare and as teens we didn't take him serious but now as grown up knowing that he was saying the truth... damn haha
- +1 y
Daaaamn, so you have to try to stay alive and healthy as much as possible 🙏🏼😂

I hear all these sad stories from friends of non-stop fighting, and relatives that hate each other, but I've never had a bad holiday with family, never had to deal with negativity or toxicity, just love and support. My parents have always been there for me and have fought for me, and supported my education, and just continue to help me learn and grow in life. I'm lucky to have my best friend who is one of those really good human beings that makes you want to be a better person, always.

+1 yI’m lucky that I had a wonderful nanny who looked after me when my parents didn’t want me, she brought me up from birth and gave me everything and helped me though everything, I’m lucky that she left me the house when she passed I’m lucky that I’ve got money to help pay for the house, bills and food, I’m lucky that I’m able bodied to do things around the house, I’m lucky that I have food, water, electricity and gas.
I’m lucky that I survived an abusive father and ex both abused me and made me want to commit suicide so I'm lucky that I got out alive.
I’m lucky that none of what’s going on in the world effects me (I do feel sorry for those it does effect) I suppose I'm lucky in lots of ways really.10 Reply- 312 opinions shared on Other topic.

+1 yI’m fortunate, but definitely not lucky. There are moments and events in my history that could have landed me in prison, or dead. Worse, i could have seriously hurt or killed someone else.
I’m fortunate also that more people haven’t abandoned me for a variety of reasons. I realize that i’m an acquired taste and i’m grateful for the people who have stuck around to acquire it. Ell oh ell!20 Reply The family I was born, the place and people I grew up with. I come from a country where there hasn´t been war in decades. There are so many circumstances that could have been way worse than my current ones that I don´t know really for where to start the list what I´m grateful for.

I think there are so many things that we should be grateful for and feel lucky about, but we often take them for granted.

I'm still breathing after getting kicked by covid and flu and so many other things, like quick surgery and accidents that could have ended me fast.
I found Christ which gave me renewed life, I'll take that good fortune.
I've had a good life and family... all considered, I'm fortunate... for many others have not been, just by luck of the draw.

they would get upset but they understood - +1 y
@NathanDavis and that just shows how amazing of a friend they see you as, one that is worth sticking around for despite all that… and I’m sure, when they got upset, part of it was, missing you, another part was worrying for you… so still, all in all, they just simply love you! hahaha
