Why are black girls so shy and afraid to date white guys?

I go to a school were the Majority of the racial population is white, we have about 100 African Americans in my school and about more then half are males. Mind you their are about 1500 kids in my school. (We also have other races; South Americans, Asians, and the foreign Exchanged students) Theirs a girl I'm a little infatuated with at my school. The problem is she's black & I know this shouldn't be a issue but it is. Oddly most of the black males usually try to keep the black females away from the white guys. A lot of the girls have older brothers in my case the Girl I like, Amber has three older brothers. It's pretty oblivious they don't like white men and whites in genral.(They don't even mess with the white girls) I also know racism is the Problem (or they just don't trust us)becuase they Associate and befriend the Asian and Latin kids. I'm usually able to talk to her during class, when I can get her to talk to me. She's already naturally quite and shy which makes everything even harder. I was able to catch her after school in the parking lot, I talked to her for maybe 5 minutes then one of her brothers came and imterupted us making her get in the truck and go home.(It's pretty funny and cute, she's like 5'1 and she drives this giant truck) I just don't know what to do, I want to get to know her but the racial Barries are my way. I don't understand why these girls let these guys dictate who they talk to and hang out with, and it's very Frustrating.

If your wondering what she looks like, she's like 5'1, with big curly hair(like Diana Ross or chaka chan ) , dark skin that glows, and she has green eyes. I' ve never seen a girl with dark skin have eye color either than dark brown before plus hair eye shape is very Oriental like.

Amber is just the sweetest girl, I've never seen her be mean or rude to anyone. And I can't get over how good she looks.

It's funny isn't it? Most likely us black girls think You guys are the shy/intimidated ones. When it comes to this interracial grouping for some reason, one of us thinks the other race isn't attracted to each other some black women want to remain "faithful" to the black community (Good Black man bullsh*t) and not be labeled as a sell out by some ignorant fools. Which is funny because, black men since the age of time have been lusting after white women, and no one says jack squat about them. Some people are just scared of new experiences and breaking out of their comfort zone. Sometimes parents have an influence on them remember talking to one of my co workers (black female) when I used to work in retail and I asked her "would you date a white guy?" and she said " Maybe not ...I heard they are all into anal" LOOL. To be honest I notice this stuff too.. Minorities tend to stick to their own group/ other minorities.

Just be cool and be yourself, strike up a conversation with her.I talk to white dudes all the time aha. You said she was not rude or had an attitude so what have you got to lose? Don't let other black people scare you away.

As a black woman, it's not really a good look to be super flirty and easy. see you're experiencing a cultural difference. you're thinking she's shy and afraid, but she probably waits for the guy to make the first move. I noticed that white girls will damn near throw themselves at a dude they think is cute. black people tend to see that as whorish so you can't expect her to do that. especially if she is already quiet by nature.

and you have the racial element. her brothers and family members care about her and will look after her. you're asking why do black women let our loved ones influence us? well because not everyone has good intentions. you seem like a sweet white guy but not every guy is like you. I just got finished answering a question on this site where some black girl was upset that her white "boyfriend" would not introduce her to his friends because they are racist. basically this guy is just using her on the side but won't take her seriously because she's black. our brothers, cousins, family care about us and are not trying to see their loved ones get played because they know how guys can be.

That is kind of sad that unfortunately they have reasons to feel protective. I think if you are friendly and obviously not someone that they perceive as racist or someone looking to start trouble they will eventually relax, but brothers are always kind of protective of their sisters and especially if there is that racial tension going on. Does anyone in your school date interracial as far blacks and whites? Do some black and white students hang out together? Or is it all completely separate? Take advantage of those times when you can talk to her and continue showing interest. Eventually she would get the point that you like her. Eventually maybe ask her if it would be okay to text or call her sometime. That is so sweet that you like her like that :) I hope it works out.

I have been friends with black people, that wouldn't even talk to me when other black people were around. I think they are afraid about what other black people will think of them. It reminds me to how white people that weren't racist a long time ago, might still act racist in order to appease other white people 50 years ago.

She might not distrust you, but is simply afraid of what other blacks will thing. I have heard black women on here, talk about being talked down to because they were disrespecting themselves for dating a white guy before, even though the same black guys were dating white women. So interracial relationship between black women and white men are still looked down on in many black communities.

There is a lot more healing that needs to be done in race relations. Unfortunately it still isn't seen as wrong for blacks to be racist toward whites. Our schools and media really need to start pushing the idea that racism against ANY race is wrong, instead of only focusing on white on black racism. Until they do racism will continue to divide us.

Maybe she doesn't think you're interested in her because you're white and most white guys are not interested in black women (and likewise most black women I know are not interested in white guys).

But the racial barriers could be the main issue. She may fear being ridiculed for dating outside her race. I know I was when I first started dating my boyfriend (he's black). Many black women ridiculed my boyfriend for dating a white girl. So maybe some black guys do the same to black women who date white men.

That or she's just shy. If that's the case, you could try talking to her more and try getting her to open up. Although it will be hard with her brothers always around. Why don't you ask her to hang out somewhere other than school? Somewhere you guys can just hang out one-on-one and talk and get to know each other better without other people there making it difficult.

Its not that I am afraid to date white guys its the fact that white guys don't show much interest in black females; you usually see them with other white females. Its a fear of rejection because of the race issue. If pay close attention you will see more black guys with white girls than a white male with black females.
