Why does he tell me to be safe?

My ex boyfriend and I still talk every once in a while. Sometimes he'll text when I'm out with friends and he'll tell me to be safe. Why does he always tell me to be safe?

He is being nice. It could be one of these two scenarios:

1- He wants you back.

This is simple to notice. If he is texting you regurarly, reaching for you to talk or to share personal stuff, telling you nice things like stay safe or keep on reminding you of what you had back then then he is trying to know if you want him back. If you do, then be subtle and flirt back or go out together and see if it works out between you.

But take care for that some guys just want their ex back so as not to be alone or because he found no girl better than you, not necessarily because he truly wants you. So, you have to take it slow.

2- He cares about you, just as a friend

Friends say things like that all the time. He cares for you as a friend so he's just nice in that sense. Nothing more.

Trust your gut. It's YOU who can know what his intentions are. It's his way of talking, acting, etc...that always help you to feel him right.
