What is gay/weird about calling another guy cute or sweet?

To me if I hear a guy calling me cute or sweet I would not think he's gay or anything. I have heard gays calling other girls cute or sweet and I just don't get it? I don't usually say another guy is cute or sweet but if I do I were thought to be gay for some reason.

its just a very feminine thing to say, like girls say "oh she is so cute" and gay guys I'm sure say things along the same lines. its just feminine is all. sweet is also feminine, but a little more versatile i think. for whatever reason (just because) if a guy says a girl is sweet or cute, its accepted, but if a guy says another guy is sweet or cute, it is deemed as homosexual. its just out of the norm because guys don't normally go around calling other guys cute and sweet... i hope that makes sense...

I think it's because men are so afraid of being perceived as gay. Women can call each other cute and people don't make the assumption that they're lesbians. I call my friend Steve cute all the time as part of an inside joke. People haven't accused me of being gay yet. I've said guys were sweet when they've done sweet things. I don't think it's a big deal.

Honestly, I don't know . I say it to my male friends when they actually do something that is cute or sweet and I don't find it gay at all. I guess with the fact that people make bromance and shit a big thing nowadays they find even the smallest things gay.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I use to have to like play it off as like a joke or something, but now I don't care anymore I just say it when I see it. Simple as that. Their just words and can be used in any sentence and can mean anything, the fact that guys using the words cute and sweet to other men and somehow have the whole "gayness" trait or feeling in them is completely beyond me. Such a beautiful generation we live in, where the most smallest things can be perceived as gay.

If a Man calls another Man "sweet" it may also mean he beleives the man is feminine and girly and an easy mark or victim. For example 2 men decide they want to rob a drug dealer and steal his drugs. The one man has met the drug dealer before and tells his Buddy the Drug Dealer is "sweet". He is telling his Buddy the Drug Dealer is feminine and/or girly and should be an easy victim to rob and will not put up a fight. It does not have to mean that the Men think the Drug Dealer is Gay. They do not really care about that. They want a "Sweet" drug dealer who is feminine and girly and not expected to give them trouble or fight when they rob him. On an episode of the First 48 Hours called "Out of Options" 2 friends plan to rob a drug dealer who one friend has met and called "Sweet" to the other Friend. To their surprise the Sweet Drug Dealer carries a Gun and uses it when they try to rob him. The one Friend dies from the gunshot and the other friend runs away. Sweet can sometimes be used to describe a Man that other Men think will be an easy victim to Rob.

guys dont use them words unless they are gay, if your talking about a nice guy than we just say "he's nice" or "he's cool" . you only use cute or sweet to refer to a girl with those traits only

Those terms are normally associated with you having an sexual attraction towards that person. Because you are showing an attraction towards men, it could mean you are gay.
