Why do people talk loud on their cell in restaurants when you are trying to relax?

First of all there are several reasons:

1. People think they're cool, smart and assume that everyone else in the restaurant wants to hear them. Why else would people broadcast their conversations for everyone else to hear? Some people think that others are listening and they want to show off.

2. They have hearing issues. My grandma is a prime example of this. She talks this way in real life. Her voice is all loud its because she can't hear herself and whenever you talk to her it sounds like she's yelling my mom is the same way. :\

3. They are oblivious. They honestly don't see a problem with it and they're just having a normal conversation. lol

oh, this is actually easy.

The Restaurant is loud, you're having difficulty hearing the other person.

When it is your turn to talk, human nature dictates you speak louder so they can hear you.

It doesn't matter that they are in an empty church.

People talk loud to me all the time, because my voice is hard for them to catch.

cause restaurants are loud and the person on the phone can't hear you.
i dont like it and i feel rude when i have to do it. i just end up being super rude and hang up on them. then ill either text them or turn off my phone.

You and I are from a different time, bro. It was called the 90s, a strange and primitive time when there were no really important things going on, like incessant texting or Angry Birds. We had phones only in our homes, and we waited upwards of hours to communicate with others. Fortunately, a new world was opened up by the cellular phone, and suddenly your personal business became appropriate to handle loudly amongst strangers, with zero regard for tact or consideration for others. How did we ever get along without any of this?

This is a little off topic but has anyone ever noticed when some people (usually older) are trying to communicate with someone that doesn't speak  English  much, they speak louder for some reason? Like speaking louder is  going to  help them understand  English  better. My boss used to do this and it drove me nuts. He wasn't that sharp anyway lol.

Almost all the restaurants I go to are loud. I think it's just an Asian thing. They even yell across the table. >< It's a habit for many Asians out there. And I personality doesn't like either. Don't need to mention about talking loud on phones.

I have noticed that a lot dead quiet restaurant two people talking at a whisper. His phone rings & the guy talks load enough for the cook in the kitchen to hear. Whats with that?
