Part of me feels like they are a dick, the other part thinks well if they were w someone we would hear it anyway. But the phone part... I don't know. Thoughts? We are talking particularly loud conversations. Not quick calls.

2 moThe particularly loud ones are very impolite. Like come on, we don't want to hear your stuff spoken out loud like that while we are out in public. The lower key ones are not so bothersome because at least they are keeping it down.
I was just talking to a friend of mine who I knew way back in elementary school. He said that he was in a grocery store and he heard a guy talking loudly on his cell phone on another isle. Behind him, the voice grew louder. There was a tap on his shoulder and the guy on the phone was some sort of big wig from our class in high school. He said his name and shook his hand and then continued to walk away. Kind of an arrogant posturing to tap him on the shoulder as if to say "Hi" and then walk away. You'd think he would end the conversation and stay and talk for a minute. Doesn't surprise me for this guy.

2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. In the olden days we had public telephone 📞 booths. They made out of metal and glass so you could see outside. Most of them had a little seat you could sit on and doors that closed to give you privacy.
These telephone booths were everywhere out in public. No one else could hear your conversation.
But now the type of phones that we HAVE TO USE are, unfortunately, a speaker phone.
Maybe they should bring back phone booths again and have them everywhere.
They were public pay phones you had to put coins in or make a collect call so the other person would accept the charges.
But just the concept of somewhere else to go to have the choice of a private conversation would be nice to have again.
Just some nostalgia for ya! 🙂31 Reply
2 moI think when this happens people are completely unaware that they're being loud and disturbing to others.

2 moYes they are and unless it's an emergency they should not. In Japann especially, it's considered rude and inconsiderate to talk on the phone on public transit. The Japanese people have an extremely respectful culture and I think the world should follow suit. I notice it especially from migrants from third world countries. They play their music loudly without earphones and talk loudly without a care in the world on public transport and it genuinely pisses me off to the point I wanna take their phone and smash it. They don't deserve one.

2 moYes, they are specially when there at the fuel station while there at the window at Kroger's I won't talked to anyone who won't end their phone conversation while at the window and can hear both. of them talking I'll ignore them in 'till they say what they want then they walk away without me saying anything because if I say anything they say I'm being rude for stopping their phone conversation and there being rude while on the phone. And this is a everyday thing at Kroger's.

2 moExactly, if the other person was sitting next to them, would that be rude? I'd say, it's only rude if at least one of them was crass in the things they said in public, especially if there's others close by, or if at least one of them was doing a lot of yelling. So, in that context, yes LOUD conversations might be rude.
The ones I think are rude are when someone's got one of those things hanging out of their ear 24/7 and you're talking with them in person and then, all of a sudden, they start saying shit that has nothing to do with what you were talking about and THEN you realize they're talking to the person in their ear! At LEAST let the person with you KNOW that you're taking a call and excuse yourself!!10 Reply - 2.9K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
2 moYes. Loud phone talkers are louder than face to face conversations. Outside of bars, i rarely overhear in person conversations.
I like to butt into loud phone conversations. Most people take the hint and just go away. Some try to talk sh*t about their “private” conversation. To which i reply, “If your conversation was private, i wouldn’t have to hear it.”20 Reply 577 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Yep, they're extremely annoying.
I've come to have sort of a way of dealing with them, if circumstances allow.
I'll attempt to get myself situated directly in front of them and stare at them endlessly until they get a clue.
Sometimes, that works.
Usually it doesn't, though.
Yeah, people, huh?

2 moI’ll put one AirPod in my ears and have a convo with someone on the phone if i get off of work while I enjoy a brew. Obviously you’re the kind of bartender who wants to really make interaction with your guests…?
I read my guests… some want to be left alone10 Reply- 6.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
2 moYes they are rude, because the people talking on the phone think others nearby are rude for hearing what they're talking about. How can someone not hear that?
If you want a private conversation, talk quietly or go someplace where others can't hear you. Legally and logically, there is no presumption of privacy in a public place.

2 moI always take my phone outside.
- I can't hear inside at the bar I usually go to. Probably 110dB in there in a Friday night.
- I'd like a little privacy for business conversations.
- Some of my calls can be NSFW.
