Depends on location and the volume. I don’t think it’s bad etiquette but it’s inconsiderate and annoying as hell.


I’m the type of person who is a people pleaser, and I hate drawing attention to myself, so if I want to listen to something on my phone, I will bring headphones or put it on low volume and up to my ear. I don’t like to bother people at all.


As for other people, depending on the place, I can’t stand it if it’s full volume… Especially in a public indoor place. It annoys me because it’s inconsiderate of other people. I know some people don’t really care what others think, but it’s just basic decency I guess.


My boyfriend is the loud, ADHD type of person, he doesn’t even realize if his phone is full volume and the ringer is on. Like, he doesn’t even notice the sound for some reason. We were in a store today and his work groupchat was blowing up his phone and his ringer was going off and I’m like, “babe, can you turn that shit off?” Lol.


He’s also the type to watch videos on his phone with full volume in my room while I’m trying to do homework or something. He doesn’t even realize it’s that loud too. Bless his heart… I love him but it gets on my nerves lol.

And then regardless of the fact that you are also human, you have to go potty, bathe, shop, pay at checkout, run errands, drive on the freeway, h**l even go to WORK, get to your other appointments, etc., they will basically drop in on you whenever they want. And don't you dare not take their call!
So please excuse me and everyone else in this specific scenario. In all others, yes, it is very annoying to hear your s**t.
And to those of you who watch funny cat videos over public wifi in public places like libraries WITH your headphones on, when you think you are laughing quietly to yourself, you are actually not. And to a bystander in the middle of that dead silent room, your quircky bouts of sudden weird laughter rising up from some indistinct spot out of the endless sea of cubicles, don't make you look like a highly sophisticated personage enjoying and having a good time by themselves, it makes you look like a complete and total moronic idiot.

I don’t even like it when people talk on the phone in public, even not on speaker. I don’t want to hear YOUR end of the conversation either, lmao. Cell phones are great to have for emergencies or being able to communicate while away from home. But I really don’t think we should just take it as license to just talk on them anywhere and everywhere. So yeah, under this same umbrella of thought, I don’t like when people utilize the speakers on their phone for whatever reason.

I certainly think it's rude if you're in a public or shared space. Like a short clip I can understand, but if you're sat down to watch an entire movie or continuously listen to music then get yourself some headphones.

Yes. If you are in public put your headphones on or wait til you get home. If you aren’t in your own space, in your own car or whatever, don’t be rude. However, people can do what they want. It’s a general consideration.
