In Defense of Celebrity Males

This is really old news but came to my attention because of some take that was written on here where Nash Grier was attacked for something ridiculous.

Essentially, the vine star makes videos about himself ad infinitum and girls watch them becasue they think he's very good looking and has a very fun energy. So, in this spirit, he makes a video talking about what HE SPECIFICALLY likes in a girl and what he believes they should do to be to be attractive (the most contentious was to shave everything.) The internet attacked him because he supposedly has a responsibility to the girls that watch him.

So i'll just point out the stupidty line by problematic line but i'll keep it short i promise:

telling women they have to shave to appeal to you is not only offensive it's abusive.

Telling them that you only like girls who are clean shaven is a choice. One that many men share. You are famous for making videos that are whatever you want so it makes sense that the video would be true to how you feel. What this guy is suggesting is that essentially lie or omit what he likes on his own social media page. He is/was 16 at this time and yet you are placing responsibility over every girl that likes him? He isn't responsible for encouraging any girl let alone 300,000. You would never have a problem with the thousands of videos girls make complaining about guys and what they need to do to "fix" themselves. How the hell is he abusing them by saying what attracts him?

you have 300K mostly teen girls watching you, and they want to please you. It's not cool telling they HAVE to change their appearance for YOU.

He's not saying that they have to do anything. He isn't saying they are bad if they don't only that it isn't attractive to him. It isn't his responsibilty that he a 16 year old has other teenagers want to please him. He shouldn't have to lie or omit what he likes to protect a girl's feelings.

Why are we blaming men, even children, instead of girls for not having good self esteem? All this kid is/was guilty of is having good enough self esteem to think that his tastes are worthy of putting in a video.

That would probably be because, in this day and age, men are expected to exist to please woman and not the other way around.

A woman who states her standards is a strong woman.

A man who states his standards is overconfident because he's a man and he should be grateful that ANY woman wants him.

And then you have women wondering where all the real men went. To which I say "Sorry sweetums, but you're bloody stupid."

I haven't watched the video and I don't know who the guy is, but it looks like people are just overreacting. Calling him "abusive" is absurd. He's not telling them to change, he's just giving his preferences. The problem is that we need to raise girls to have more self esteem so they're not doing things to impress people they don't even know (and that goes for guys too).

Honey, from a young age girls are taught "if he's mean to you, it means he likes you" so they let it happen causing them to have no self esteem
and it's okay to have preferences of course but Nash has done so many bad things, along with Justin Bieber and Sam Pepper.
I did find Nash and Sam attractive until they royally fucked up. I never watched them but I thought they were hot, now they're ugly to me because of what they did.

It's a subjective opinion, but Hank is pretty objective and scientific in all things - objectively looking at it and only the big picture, he isn't wrong. I love Hank.

Nope... that's fine. I don't really care. But I did point out that if you're going to think about it objectively - with all of the past behind you - you're going to see that Hank has a point.
But oh well... thinking is something so many people just don't like doing (or have forgotten how to).
