Why did he kiss me if he says we are just friends?

We have bee talking and hanging he out a lot. But he says we are just friends. The thing is he kissed me and now im confused on if he likes me or not. he has been acting weird around me lately.

He is shy and feels you are too "good" for him and is probably fearing the thought of rejection. The fact that he kissed you is probably a good thing as maybe that is his way to show he likes you. Then again perhaps he also wanted to see if you were a good kisser too. I think you need to follow your instincts on this and if you feel you have feelings for him just take a chance and maybe go for it. Feelings change so quickly and develop fast too so you never know. Im in the same position, he treats me like we’re talking in that way but he says we’re just friends but he wants to kiss me and cuddle me, and i have made clear that we won't be fucking and he says he doesn't care ab that so I don't know, I don't know if he's just scared cos he's been hurt or if he's still hung up on his ex (cos it seems like it) or if he's just in denial or if im just dumb but I don't know how anyone would wanna kiss someone if they just see them as a friend

Kissing doesn't mean that he necessarily likes you. It is not always any emotional thing for guys .
But you can keep your hopes alive.
