Is he suddenly acting shy around me?

I met this guy a while ago through friends we have in common, the first time we met he was really interested in me, flirted a bit and we talked a lot. He is quite an outgoing guy normally. After we met we have sent each other some whatsapp messages, also quite flirty (especially from his side) and he kind of said that he is attracted to me (he texted that he was afraid he would have kissed me when he would have had one more drink the time we first met). But now when I meet him when we are together with friends he seems different (I haven't been on any dates or anything, we are sort of hanging out in the same friend group). I still catch him looking at me, but he doesn't touch and talk as much to me as he did before we started texting.. is he shy and maybe feeling exposed because of what he said on whatsapp?

Could off course also be that he is loosing interest.. but we texted two days before and then he was really flirty and admitted that he had thought about me.. Also one of his friends suddenly asked me what I thought of him..

this idea of losing interest is so crap. how can a person loses interest on another person like that in short time and without a reason? it just that girls are cautious and lacking confidence. what do you said when was saying those flirty stuff kissing etc. if you haven't replied to him or was kind of backed away now the chances are he is cautious also about what he did. He can't come up to you and talk because he is wondering how would you respond.

I sort of flirted back over text, but not too obvious I think.. In real life I am also not the bravest person when it comes to flirting ;)

many times it can be this. that guy really want to talk with you. but he don't know how to struck up a conversation specially after texts. he may be wondering what to talk, how would you respond and tensed too much to talk with you. fear of rejection may be on the other hand. however, I don't see how he would have loses his interest on you, there is no way
