Why would a guy become tense around a girl?

This guy has friends that are girls and seems to be relaxed and himself around other girls but with me it is the opposite. When we met the first couple of times, he was more outgoing than I was, and super nice to me. I tend to be shy first hand but open up later on, however i'm still smiley and nice. Then suddenly we when met up again recently, he got quiet, shy and nervous... only around me though. Why is that?

There was this one crush I had at some point where I became suuuuper tense around her. I don't even crush on her anymore, she's just my friend but I still almost become tense around her. It's very strange.

But who knows, he could be planning on asking you out so every time he is with you; he's hesitating and hesitating and thinking and considering and planning and plotting and stressing and he can't bring himself to do it because he is a guy and he likes a girl. Trust me, I've been there. Except I never got to the "asking out" part.

Yes, but everyone on this site phrases questions in a way that makes it seem like they already have a feeling that whatever boy or girl they're referring to has a crush on them. So it SOUNDS like he is interested in you, but then again so does almost every other "guy" mentioned in everyone's questions.
