Guy says "thank you dear!". Any meaning?

If he replies "thank you dear!" does it mean anything? Him using the word dear in particular? Does he like the girl?

To be honest, we always try to pick apart the small details of what certain words mean, when in general sometimes when people say it, they don't think twice, it just comes out. Don't get me wrong sometimes people do intentionally use words, but most of the time it's just something that shouldn't really be thought extremely hard about.
