I get really sick on my period and boyfriend takes care of me. Is it a burden?

I throw up and barely can move so my boyfriend will take care of me. He goes to the store to pick up anything and kinda just coddles me. We were with his friends and it got brought up and they started laughing at him and apologizing to him... Is it bad that he does this for me? He has had to buy me tampons and they said that it was the worst thing I could have him do. Is it?
