At my job I don't have sick days. I just have points and I can only miss like 2 more days.
Also, at the doctor's office

Need a better job or company, at my work if your hourly, you start out with 4 weeks of Sick time/PTO a year, but you earn it monthly, 11.## hours a month, so can't use it until you earn it, have to work a whole year to get the full four weeks.
They have a thing called No pay, means you either have to be working or on PTO. If you have no PTO you get written up and terminated after 24 hours in a calendar year. Even if you only use 20 hours, it will prevent you from getting a annual raise.
That is unless its legit, like pre-approved FMLA as needed.
Yet, too many people want to save their PTO for vacations, even though it is meant for sick and vacation, and so if you come to work sick, you could be written up, or sent home and forced to use your PTO, which then could prevent a upcoming planned vacation if you do not have enough PTO.
The big thing is, they do not WANT a sick person to spread it around the office and that could actually get you fired.
If your salary, you just have to work but most salary people get to work remote, so you work from home sick.
Maybe you need to get a doctors note, don't know if that would help, to show it is legit as often management has no idea if someone is really sick or just faking it. As people often suddenly get sick around holidays for example or Fridays.
Call in, get a doctor's note, pto, fmla with no pay or just go in sick. But even then that will still get you a point. It's absolutely cruel that employers get away with this selfish crap. They expect us to be robots instead human beings. They don't want to give us sick time, but want to punish us for getting sick. It's ridiculous. My job gave us 10 days to recover from covid, but anything else we had to use pto. Some people where out for a month, you think during a pandemic employers would be more understanding but nope. Anyway I would try to find a better job with better benefits if you can.
I will eventually I'm just waiting till the end of December
Unless I'm like puking I just go in. If I took days off everytime I had a cold, flu, Diarrhoea, headache, back pain I would end up being off 3 weeks in the year just being sick which would eat into my holidays and looks bad when it comes to renewing contracts and promotions.
I recently got promoted over a woman at my work, she has better qualifications and is slightly better and more experienced than me but she gets really bad menstrual cramps and often misses at least 3 days in the month which translates to about over a month or more in the year that she is off sick, plus she takes her holidays on top of that
I'm self-employed. I just don't work. That's why it's CRITICAL to have a "rainy-day fund", "cushion" or whatever you want to call it, if you are self-employed or are an employee in a strictly controlled work-time environment. Also, the self-employed should try to calculate their earnings over a "48 week year", to allow for 4 weeks of vacation, emergency leave, sick days, etc. That's not a bad idea for everyone, either.

Try to take this comment as a Man. It sounds like you are having a High paying job, where you don't really do much either (I might be very wrong though). When I'm sick and no matter how sick I am, I'm simply marching to my job like a soldier into the battle field, Do you know why? because I have no choice, but to go to work, because I have to pay my bills and my bills don't care At ALL, If I'm sick or not.
I got strep throat so no
My mom always said:
You can go. Granted she's a workaholic, I still try to live by her rule... not so much now after covid has happened though lol.
Same like fuck that my health comes first then my job
America is so fucking terrible.
I'm sorry but in a first world country this should not be an issue. I'm so fucking tired of this country.
Im willing to bet you can't afford a doctor's visit either?
No, I can I have medicaid insurance
**Prevention is always better than cure.**
Take proper medicinals/ body immune system boosters/ and anything naturally comforting.
Warm items, possibly, and chamomile teas.
Anything to keep the body relaxed and under the least amount of stress, is Ideal.
Pace yourself in the work place, for the day, and possibly ask someone to help with the remainder of a shift, or just stay a bit longer to get anything (as far as daily quota goes) done, as necessary.
Best to you!
I would usually take a day or two off. But if I had to be at work, I would tough it out, honestly. I would give my boss and coworkers notice that I was sick. I wouldn't be at my best, my work was slower, but I would try to do what I could.
Whenever I got some time to be alone and close my eyes, I would do that. Painkillers if needed were always there. I would stock up in vitamin C for an energy kick. And sometimes a little walk outside to reboot my brain would help. Then crash when I get home.
It would pass eventually, so a few days of discomfort was manageable.
I’m so sorry you are feeling this way, drink loads of warm water with lemon, drink loads of soup, eat loads of oranges and easy peelers. when you get home rest and make sure you don’t leave the house or leave windows open when your hair is wet, wash your hands and face a lot to wash away germs, wear layers so your warm , take medicines
Depends on the type of sick. A cold I mask up and take Advil sinus or Tylenol cold and flu. If it’s the flu there’s really nothing I can do but stay home and try not to die. But I also work in healthcare so depending on the severity of whatever affliction I have I either stay home or make it work.
At my job you can choose to any days you want work or not work every week. Every week job shifts for posted Monday to Sunday so you choose any day you want work or not. So far it’s my 3rd day off from work as I’m sick with the flu. Might come back to work til Saturday. Got the flu really bad
Slow down and work smart. Interact less and focus more. MSN, you were quiet today, what’s up kind of off to Self during work is how I would do it.
I just go to sleep. Have not taken meds in a long time. Usually I try to still exercise as well as eat, sleep, drink plenty of water. I don’t see how they can hold this against you if you’re legitimately sick w a doctor’s note. It’s not something you can control. Fuck that job you need a new one.
I drink a lot of lemon water. Most illnesses evaporate when I do that.
The acidity from the lemon raises the pH of your stomach, making it harder for the virus to survive.
I did this once at work. After 3 hours, I felt like Superman.
I'm lucky I rarely get sick but usually if it's that bad and I have points I can call in, if not I'm kind of screwed but ehhh I try to rarely call in unless I have a terrible flu, I've went to work and been fine with meds when I had a cold.
Call my employer and say that I'm sick, go to my doctor and she will write me a certificate for me being sick and then I stay home for as long as my doctor allowed me to
I am going though it right now. I don't go the doctor unless I am near dying
If work wants a doctor excuse, I tell them to fuck off and quit if they push it.
I will not let a company bully me
That’s a problem. The way the US treats its workers sucks. I guess you’re just supposed to show up and get everyone else sick.
Ha I guess so good ole American dream
If you can stand and walk then you can work. Push it out of your mind. WILLPOWER! That's what it's about man. Think of your ancestors. Didn't matter if they were sick. Then had to go kill a wooly mammoth to eat and survive, sick or not.
Uhh no, my health is more important than my job. I'm not going to work sick and spreading it to others.
You asked how I'd deal with it. Sometimes you got to man up in life.
Working sick is very very unlikely to kill you.
That's happened to me today, had to ccme home afterchaving a very upset stomach, so embarrassing, hope it stops by tomorrow, stupidly had too much magnesium supplement.
Magnesium gave you an upset stomach?
@Date_a_Snob yes, very..
what kind of sick?
if I can walk, I can work... lol
If I can get out of bed or off the sofa I go in, with the aid of pain relief etc, if needed.
I went from three jobs down to one. For a while I worked from home on the two, but that became too much. People get sick. If you don’t have a support system you can end up homeless and sick.
