What does "yeah kinda" mean?

My best friend of six years and I were hanging out and he kissed me. And then didn't talk to me for a while. When I finally made him talk to me about it he said "we both wanted to but after I did it I knew I shouldn't. I don't want to start anything and I'm sorry for leading you on but I do want to stay friends and close." Then I asked him if he felt anything when we kissed and he said "yeah kinda". What the heck does that mean? S. o. s.
