Well... I sleep with someone. I usually sleep on either my left or right side, not my back. On occasion her legs (specifically her knees) have ended up in that general area when I start to fall asleep. So I'll put my hand there to prevent being accidentally kneed in the balls. I don't think my hand stays there since I've often woken up with my hands near my head. Also, when I shift from side to side, I sometimes have to rearrange the equipment so it's not getting squished between my legs. That's my take.
