Posted this a bit ago, but I'm really nervous. I've been friends with this guy for 5 or 6 years, and I just recently realised I like him. I've been told he likes me, so I asked him on a date. Is this bad?

No, it's not bad at all. I suppose he was just startled by this sudden approach, and he wasn't expecting it. Just give him some time. If he likes you, he'll surely warm up to you. If not, it means he never really liked you anyway, so you got your answer. This allows you to move on, instead of having false hopes with him.
