he wants to feel your love you have for him. when i hug someone that loves me deeply i can feel the love from them with that simple hug.
he cares for you more than you know open up and let him in

not necessarily. i hug a lot of people goodbye and it's just a friendly or familial type of thing

but a hug with a girl i dont know that well may indicate a level of intimacy
