Question

You don't see cleo or cosmo publishing a list of eligible bankrupts or hobos, a guy with no money or the potential to earn it is not good partner material, if he can't provide for his partner or children.

More likely to divorce or separate, more likely to cheat, more likely have arguments, its the biggest source or conflict in relationships, most argument occur over money, that's why you lie about how much you spent on the shoes etc

I, out of all people, said no; and here is my reasoning.

First of all,

The population is a bell curve. It's not accurate (and therefore ignorant) to use a quantifier as strong as "girls", to imply something as strong as "ALL" girls.

Some girls already come from wealthy families. Some girls are doctors, lawyers, accountants, investment bankers, managers, executives, etc. Some girls either already have or already make their own money. And no. I'm not talking about the girls who make under $60,000 a year and call themselves "independent". I'm talking about truly independent women. Women who can cover their own expenses, and have enough money for their retirement, and their children, and to support a husband, and to afford all the shopping & traveling they want. Women who truly DON'T NEED a guy to financially sponsor her desires or basic needs in any way.

Secondly,

After attacking & disquilifying a quantifier as strong as "ALL girls", let's explore the other 90% of the female population.

Men oppress women. I hate to break it to you, but the truth of life is, there's a hierarchy of power between the sexes.

- Powerful men

- Beautiful women

- Weak men

- Other women

Powerful men control power. They control business, they employ, and more importantly, they control people. They manipulate the way in which you go about your life. Allocating 33% to sleep, 33% to working (for them), and 33% to yourself (which includes buying goods & services from them again). So, in short, you spend 66% of your life, working for powerful men.

Weak men are puppets. They grow up in a world where powerful men condition women to believe that they will eventually find a guy that's stupid enough to want to marry her & take care of her; because of sex, and so, if a girl is beautiful, she loses all desire to actually have power. She surrenders all her power to powerful men. She doesn't pursue a high earning job, she just expects to find a man who has one instead.

What happens? Powerful men, recycle beautiful women. They rent indirect prostitutes.

Weak men, chase things like sex & love, and live in the fantasy that they will meet a beautiful girl who will truly love & respect him as a person.

I'm not saying it's "impossible". I'm just saying, it's highly "improbable".

The Silver Lining?

Beautiful & Other women eventually understand that powerful men aren't idiots. Idiots don't control & socially engineer society as their playground. They learn that they have no control or hold on powerful men (as you mentioned).

And what "ALL" women want, isn't money, it's safety & security. And guess where they find it? With weak men; "safe guys". So weak men get to finally enjoy a relationship with women, when they're older, used & abused, and ready to settle down with a guy that no other woman wants, and is less likely to cheat on her or leave her (because it's not like he can find anyone else)

So, safety & security is more important than money.

Definitely true. A woman's salary or accomplishments in life have absolutely nothing to do with my level of attraction towards her.

Notice how it's okay for women to whine about their problems like body issues and not being as slim as supermodels, but it's not okay for men to talk about any of their grievances. You're just supposed to shut up and take it like a man.

True, a girl doesn't want a guy who is bankrupt (it says he's bad with money and thus probably irresponsible in other areas as well) or a homeless person (most homeless people have substance abuse/mental illness issues) because both are just generally unhealthy for a relationship. But, that doesn't mean women only care about money. Let's put it this way- would you knowingly pursue a homeless woman or a woman incapable of meeting her responsibilities (basically bankrupcy)? Now, I know that sometimes catastrophes happen and people become overwhelmed, so even being bankrupt isn't necessarily a deal breaker for me- it all depends on the circumstances and how a man deals with them. A man who loses his job, gets sued for a mail man slipping on the ice on his front walk, and goes bankrupt as a result, but also goes out, finds another job and picks himself back up is still worth dating. Sure, money is a big issue for people because it's about power structure and dynamics and it's also all about different values. You might think the new playstation is worth all that money, but your girlfriend might not.You think $100 for a new dress to go out with friends from high school is ridiculous, she doesn't.

But to me, it's not about what a guy makes because I have my own money, I can take care of myself without any help- I'm not looking for a guy to support me. I don't even care if a guy makes less than me- I just want a guy who treats me well, who makes me happy, challenges me, sees me as an equal, and is mature enough to make sure he fulfils his responsibilities, whether they be financial, societal, or personal (including bills/work, obeying laws/being a good person, being supportive of me/friends/family). The dollar signs mean very little to me because what I want out of my life with a guy isn't about money, I'm putting myself through university so I can do that on my own. Money can only buy me stuff, and I have stuff, what I need from a guy is emotional/physical connection, which you can't buy.

I like Money and I like Men. The too have nothing to do with each other.

Th efact that id want my man to be educated and to have a decent job is not because of the money out of, its because I want someone to be like me, not less and not more.

Am the kind of woman who is independant, I want my own money and I want to feel free about my choices, whether I want to save the money for the future, take a trip or buy new shoes.

i don't like it if the man feels like he has to pay for everything, we re equal so it is my job as much as it is his and I will have to support my future husband in everything, I have to work and I don't recommand having children unless the couple are ready for it. I'd want the best for them..

And even if my man is broke or faces downhill then I will also support him and try to make things better for him or find him a new job, but if it takes years and years and all he does is complain or perhaps he doesn't even care about it then I would conisder this as a dealbreaker but that's only if I was serious about him, no one wants a lazy man.

basicly my answer is False, Yet to correct you I must say that;

"Women Want To Have SECURITY In The Relationship" but that doesn't mean that they love security mor than men themselves!

I think that the money issue can go BOTH ways on the gender scale. Based on experience.

I do, however, agree that it can cause issues in a relationship- economic hardships are part of the world we live in now. Though it may be the basis of the argument, its how you handle the disagreement/frustration that is what is important (that goes for any fight/problem). If you are with someone that lies about spending habits maybe there are deeper issues. Maybe you have trust issues. Maybe its time for separate accounts. Again, its how you deal with it.

And I don't see many guy mags with pictures of realistic versions of women in them either.

If you subscribe to the mindset of society and the media then expect to be disappointed in real life. It is wrong to generalize a gender based on a bad experience. If women did that- all men would be considered liars and cheaters. So take every experience with a grain of salt and learn from it. Don't spew out your frustration and aim it at an entire gender.

Most arguments occur over money because when people have a hard time providing for their child, paying their bills, and paying rent, this takes a real toll on their relationship. It makes both parties cranky, not just the female.

I don't ever lie about how much I spend, except to my mother because she only freaks out. And this is considering I rarely go shopping because I hate shopping. Which ironically has made me an impulse buyer. I don;t know how to shop around for prices like a lot of my shopper friends, and I have no patience to do so either. If I find something I like, I buy it, except I also happen to change my mind quite a lot so later I might not like it. That being said, I hardly ever shop. I don't need a guy to spend tons of money on me or to be rich.

Cosmo doesn't publish about bankrupt guys and hobos because they publish about what's fun between the sheets. They publish sexy bachelors because they're playing on the charming prince fantasy. And because who the hell interviews people gone baknkrupt or hobos, unless they're writing an actual article about business or the world today or poverty.

You're making pretty big generalizations, and possibly only going to the wrong kind of girls.

Another thing is, like Justbug87 said, he doesn't have to be rolling in money, but anyone who has their sh*t together, knows what they're doing with their life, and are working toward it, have earned my respect, whether they be male or female.

Who the hell would want to date a bum? No sane woman who wants a future is gonna pick a guy who can't contribute anything to it but debt. If you have no money or no potential to earn money and can't provide for your family or children why would someone want to be with you? Men are the same way, you don't see Maxim's Okay 100, it's Maxim's Hot 100. Men always want the hottest and most beautiful girls so since your standards are so high I don't think you get to complain about women's financial standards. Also I don't lie about how much I spent on shoes, I make my own money so if you don't like my spending habits kick rocks.

If a guy does not have good earning potential I will not be with him. For what? I have good earning potential so that's what I expect out of a man. I have a certain lifestyle that I'd like to live and that doesn't include being broke. Why should I settle? Just like you probably don't like ugly women, I don't like broke men.

Honestly, I could care less how much money a guy makes or will make in the future. I am planning on having a successful career of my own and will be more than capable of providing for me and my family. On the other hand I don't want to be with a lazy bum who does nothing with his life. I don't care if he is working for a fortune 500 company or if he is working or minimum wage, if I am working my ass off he should be working too. I'm even ok with him being a stay at home dad at some point, as long as he is contributing to the success and happiness of our family, that's all that matters.

I feel like I may be one of the few, I know way too many girls who expect their man to make money and spoil them with nice things, but girls like me do exist. Saying that girls only care about money is an unfair stereotype when there are girls out there who care about the guy, not his money.

It is not true that girls only like money. Everyday men and women are getting together and making a life for themselves with barely enough money to make it month to month. This is called growing together and probably in the end makes a much happier family than where one spouse or the other has everything handed to them on a silver spoon.

I believe the number one quality a girl looks for in a guy beyond initial attraction is his potential to provide, earn money. I wouldn't say that all girls look for guys with a lot of money.

I would say a guys earning potential ranks above personality. His earning potential is a major part of his personality. A guy that's motivated and driven to succeed is a guy that's confident, independent, and takes the actions necessary to provide a comfortable life for himself. It's not so much the money it's his ability, which directly relates to his personality type.

i'd like to say something along the lines that girls didn't care about money but from experience my girl options have been way better when they though I had money . like last summer when I was working at a high end golf course / resort in an affulent area I meet an endless list of super hot women who any guy on here would dream about . but when at home in a boring small town and between jobs basically nothing and no girls at all . 1.Now there are woman out there that make the female population all look like "gold-diggers" but its simply not every single female on the earth!

2. In most cases its not even the idea of the money its self and the things that they can get, its the fact of the matter that the woman feels that she will be taken care of. That there is security there.
