Why would a guy bring up his celebrity crush in a text message to a girl he's talking to?

He was telling me to go watch her music video (it's Selena Gomez) and how he loves how she's modest- but still sexy and can talk dirty. Then said she was “perfect” “magnificent” and went on and on. I told him I didn't way to watch it and he called me lame! So like why is he telling me all of this?

Guys are weird.

Before me and my boyfriend were going out and were best friends though both still liked each other (we didn't know the other liked us back until October), he would ask me who my celebrity crush was and would tell me his celebrity crush was Ariana Grande.

At the time, I just thought he only liked me as a friend and this was just some random topic he wanted to talk about for whatever reason but now I know he liked me all that time?

I just find it weird. Like you have a crush on ME, why are you telling me about some singer you fancy?

Could just be innocent talk (ie would say that to anyone who was with him), or maybe he wants you to be more like her? Could mean nothing at all as well. Some people just talk, they don't think about what they are saying and to who.
