Why do these guys smile at my friend and give me blank stares?

there are a these upperclassmen guys at my school(all friends, btw) that stare at me quite a bit. usually, they have a blank look on their faces when they do it. sometimes, a few of them stare at my friend too. but when they do stare at her, they smile.

what do these different stares mean? I've read that smiling is a sign of friendliness, but blank stares you can't be so sure of. I know one of them has talked about me before. whether he was saying positive or negative things is the question...

You kind of have the same face as me. Kind of sad eyes, pouty lips.. These guys are probably just mesmerized and don't know how to approach or make eye contact with you beause they can't decode your expressions. They may be afraid you'll just roll your eyes if they smile at you and guys at your age are terrified of rejection, esp. in front of friends.

Try crossing your eyes the next time one of them is staring, then just laugh at yourself with no care with what their reaction is. Confidence is key.

Also try a quick 'hey', 'hi', 'how's it goin?' whenever you get a chance, even though it's terrifying. The stares will quickly turn into conversation.

I'm told all the time in different ways; 'I thought you were a huge b*tch/ thought you were really depressed/mad until I talked/ got to know you.' People have know idea who you are until you let yourself be known. good luck.
