Why do random guys stare and smile at me?

I'm a sophomore in college and I've noticed that other college guys have a tendency to look at me and smile. I consider myself pretty, but not supermodel hot. Are they checking me out? Zoning out? Guys do you stare at random girls?
Sometimes I just feel like they know something that I don't, but I feel like I'm just being paranoid haha

Its because they find you attractive and want to initiate eye contact with you. The fact that they are smiling is a very good sign of attraction. If you find them attractive you should hold their gaze for 2-3 seconds and maybe throw in a cheeky smile too, your giving them a positive response. They may even approach you after.
