Why is he jealous if we are just friends with benefits?

My best friend, whom I am also best friends with gets jealous/annoyed when I hang out with this guy that I am also talking to. When I tell him I'm hanging out with this other guy, he threatens to go be with another girl. Also he gets very sad and is not himself when I don't answer the phone or his texts right away and starts to worry or assume the worst. What does this mean?

why wouldn't he get upset or feel threatened by you choosing to see someone else even though you are only friends with benefits this other guy threatens what he has going with you which is the benefits of a relationship without the commitment of an actual relationship.
He may be worried things will become serious between you and this other guy and what he has with you will come to an end with the friends with benefits.
While he has you as a friend with benefits he is getting the freedom of sleeping with you and if he finds someone he wants to be with in a committed relationship he will owe you nothing and won't need to go through an ugly break up as your only friends and since he knows this he is frightened you will do that to him.

Ever seen the movie Friends with Benefits? Swap roles and you're basically the movie plot. Two people become friends with benefits, as they get closer together, the woman realizes that she likes the guy more than just for sex, and the guy realizes that too. Basically, they become a couple at the end. Happy ever after.

Maybe you'll continue having neutral feelings towards this guy or maybe you'll like him like he does to you. Up to you what you feel and want to do, but this guy clearly likes you as more than just a friend.

Its scientifically proven that when 2 people get close sexually, certain chemicals are released which develop feelings for each other even though we try to deny it. friends with benefits is overrated and actually causes more headaches than having an actual proper boyfriend.

It means friends with benefits don't work for long. You also have a very good chance of losing the friendship as well. The problem with the youth today is that sex is just a recreational thing with no meaning behind it. Sex is not a recreation, it's a very intimate thing that should mean something to the two people. Men in their 20' 30' + didn't have erection problems. Now there are a ton of young men who have to take Viagra or other ED medicine to be able to perform. They live on porn and that can ruin the mind when it comes to real sex. The mind is a big part of sex. Women who masturbate a lot can lose sensitivity which is quite important in sex. Your "best friend has fallen for you and doesn't want you with anybody else. This happens all the time in friends with benefits or NSA sex.

I can just guess... It seems he fell for you the first time and wants to be exclusive. Some people who are immature can't handle friends with benefits. It requires two people who understand there is no relationship and who don't want a relationship. Man people are not able to really separate the two and a friendship is in jeopardy. Many men, and I assume women, can't just have casual sex unless some girl is letting him have his quickies. A quickie is something men do much better at than women. friends with benefits is supposed to be as physically satisfying as sex between two people who are in a relationship, but it's not. It leaves a lot out because the mind is a huge part of it. If all you did is make out and he touched you and he's behaving like this, I'd not do anything more with him. Stay friends if you can, but sex isn't going to work.

This other guy is just another rooster in the hen house. Your friend knows he may lose you as a friends with benefits if you start seeing this other guy. Also, once you start dating and things get serious, he will fall down the social ladder ranking as this other guy becomes your SO. Nobody wants to be second best no matter what label the relationship has. It may also be he has some feelings for you and obviously your feelings are directed at someone else. Again, nobody wants to be left behind.

He probably doesn't even know how to approach the idea of hanging out because, no offense, but you're not exactly the type of female who would be easy to approach with that request. Because you are someone's friends with benefits, there's already a negative for other guys to get to know you more mentally intimately. It would be awkward for them to try had have a date with you, realizing that you may have just hooked up with another man the day before. They probably won't feel comfortable trying to get to know you like that knowing that there is another man you talk to frequently who is enjoying your body on a regular basis. :/ It presents a really awkward situation.

I think the best way is that you let him know what you want - but in the coolest manner. If he responses with genuine interest in persuing something more serious with you then it can begin from there. (of course you should be ready to take 'no' too) If not, then it's your call... but if you guys are not spending time together outside the bed, there's only a slim chance... I think. I've been in that situation and I've been attached to a guy and had a guy attached to me too. He is a guy... If he's attached to you, he would have made a move. Just my guess.
