Why would my guy friend/fwb mention that I'm heartless when I'm not?

He mentioned how I'm heartless when I'm not he is and he says I'm careless could this mean he likes me? we are just friends with benefits but I also like him as well

Ok so first off I want to start off by saying I am no expert on this matter because every relationship I have ever been in was a confirmed mutual understanding that we were in it to win it. Needless to say I am still not married and haven’t been laid since we discovered the latest human genome. I feel however he very well may like you and if this is the case you guys should try escaping for a weekend to do something proactive that neither of you had done before. Volunteering, going to see Yellowstone park, something where you can burn off energy, connect, talk things out, and bang like you are making an audition film for Pornhub. If you guys connect I would say try going for something serious. If things get out of hand then let him go because you do not need someone who is accusing you of not caring. You may also want to make sure that you guys are always keeping the conversation open and with total transparency tempered with patience and kindness. Hope that helps.

I disagree, you have to maintain a certain level of decency for the whole friends with benefits thing to work out. My guess is that you slid off of that scale and he is not happy about it
