Why does my other guy friend saying I’m an idiot for not noticing his best friend and things my crush will dump me?

I started dating my old high school crush (let’s call him Devin) and our first date this past Friday was AMAZING! I’m looking forward to Valentines Day!
My other guy friend (let’s call him Lance) told me I’m a real idiot for not noticing his best friend. My guy friend (let’s call him Eddy) that’s always been there for me and truly loves me and quite frankly deep down inside I’m feeling him and I’m not really feeling this jock and I’m only doing this to avoid my feelings towards Eddy (my guy friend). I don’t have feelings for Eddy! I like Devin.
I really do like my old crush.

Lance reminds me that Devin ignored me and was horrible to me when I was heavier and paid no attention to me. Then used and went to prom and abandoned me. He called us retarded because we were in special education. He says Eddy is in love and everyone knew except me. Whatever Eddy and I are just friends.

Well he could be 100% right but at the same time he's manipulating you in a couple different ways because he wants to be the cool guy who hooked you guys up you got to go with your heart you already know it's going to happen with your boyfriend you just having a minute yet whether it's wrong or right I don't know but we all know what we know sooner than we know it if that makes sense I think you have to wait out both scenarios and just think if you do get hooked up with your friends best friend what happens when you guys split up so you got to think about it a lot of different ways

You're so right I'm the same way I will not date my friends I like to meet somebody new somebody compatible and go from there it's just everything is just 10 times smoother and easier you're like I said you are so right that's the only way to do it I'm looking right now for a good friend and I know a couple girls that I have known for a while and they want to date and I don't want to I will not do it LOL it's going to end in broken hearts and no friendship anymore so I will not do it

That’s the reason why I don’t want to date Eddy. He’s a dear friend of mine and he’s like a brother to me. My parents really like him and sees him as boyfriend material even though he isn’t my type and not the best looking guy but he isn’t ugly.

I know exactly what you mean and for me this is the way I look at it is so let's say we go for it and we date just because and it's usually because one of you want to get into the other one's pants but in a few months it doesn't work out so you split up and now one person hates the other person. And you have to be able to look at each other and be honest your friends right and say look either we become lovers and we break up and it's over forever are we stay friends and we stay friends forever is that simple
