My crush never smiles at me when he glances and stares at me. What does this mean?

hi guys! so i always catch my crush staring and looking at me when i m around him, but the thing is he NEVER smiles when i catch him looking. he doesn t even smile at me when he catches me looking at him. but then i see him giving friendly smiles when he walks by them. the only time he smiles at me is when we are talking to each other. but i have smiled at him before but he has never smiled back. he just keeps on staring at me. and one time i was the phone with a friend and then i looked to the side and i caught him staring at me and it was kinda like a serious look on his face. so why was he watching me? oh, and i don t think he s shy when he looks, it s just when i talk to him. so when he looks at me he never smiles or looks away. so what exactly does this mean? thanks!

Does he talk to you? Sometimes I'll look (not so much stare) at girls, without smiling, who I don't intend approaching. Because what's the point? Why would I smile at a chick who isn't gonna approach me, and I'm not going to speak with?

I hope he's not plotting something sinister.

well he talks to me sometimes, but mostly i do the initiating. and when i talk to him he's sometimes nervous but mostly quiet with me.
