I find it interesting how so far almost every girl Said yes and almost every guy said no... does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I wouldn't call that chivalry, I dont see a single line about fighting in medeval combat. But no. Ideally everyone should follow these but lifes a bitch. My father was an abusive alcholic, I dont love or respect him. Sometimes I dont feel like standing for a perfectly healthy woman on the train. Sometimes I like to grow my beard out, I make decisions about my appearance to please myself not you. Best relationship I had was with someone who liked me specifically because I wasn't afraid to not have manners, sometimes acting strangley and out of convention can be fun. Id say most people dont wake up one day and decide theyll be untrustworthy today. I strive not to make mistakes I find my life if better when im doing well. Going back to my father, his abuse and shit personality shaped me and ultimatley hurt me more than anyone else could, doesn't matter that he feels sorry now I will hold that against him till the day he's rotting in the ground. Some days id rather curl up and read a book I've already read. Sometimes loving someone too much is a bad thing, it can be self destructive or destroy the relationship you have with that person. Sometimes saying what you feel will hurt someone more than biting your tongue. These standards are pretty flawed and id advise others to come to their own conclusions than listen to the magical Not Chivalry But Says Its Chivalry picture they found online.

I'm not so sure about all that listed in the picture but I generally treat women a lot nicer than men in public & have chivalrous inclinations. You might run into one of those horrible bitches who has to ream you with 'I don't need a man to open my doors for me' but to me there is a good deal of satisfaction that comes from making women smile awhile & going above/beyond to assist them. Sometimes i'm like that with men too but it just isn't as natural for me so the instances are scant & unmemorable

Yes. To me a chivalrous man takes care of business, family, and others in his path in a way that is respectful, helpful, honest, responsible, and kind. Most of the men in my life are this way and none of them see it as some sort of awful soul crushing burden to say please and thank you, to open an occasional door or two, respect their parents, or to take care of their kids. If there was a female equivalent to this, I would say I follow and do the same. I try my best to be kind to others, take care of my responsibilities, treat others the way I want to be treated, and I open or hold doors for both sexes. It;s not hard to do at all. It doesn't take any extreme effort on my part to do these things, so when people do get offended by these terms or start ranting on about feminism or sexism or some other ism, it just leads me to believe they were never raised with any sort of manners or any sort of need to follow the golden rule about treating others the way they want to be treated.

No. I don't like this idea that to be a "real man" you need to be chivalrous (though some of these don't even indicate chivalry). If women are able to complain about standards set for them, men should be allowed to complain about these types of standards that are set towards them (and others, actually).

If anything, a man shouldn't give us special treatment - especially if we're not in a relationship with him; A lot of girls I know want a "step up" with a relationship, so would expect more, when chivalry is already a lot and should be appreciated - make us earn the chivalry instead of just handing it to us on a silver platter and reinforcing the "I'm entitled to _____" mindset.

Yes, be kind to both men and women alike. That is not only noble but attractive. Because it's easy for a woman to do it, but sadly a lot of guys don't. Especially when they say they want a traditional woman. How can you seek a good woman or traditional woman when you expect her to act the part but you don't?

Good manners, yes. Everyone should behave civilly and conscientously. Chivalry is an indication that only men should behave well toward women though. So no, not chivalrous.

Don't mistake a good person as chivalrous, it's the equivalent of calling them a sexist.

I don't like the term chivalry since nowadays it's only directed towards men who treat women that way, not everyone deserves to be treated nicely and you shouldn't go out of your way to treat strangers extremely nice and be "chivalrous" towards every girl.

I'd say behave like a gentleman, if you treat random males like shit but treat every girl like a queen then you're just a kiss ass and most likely have other intentions.

No, I don't think so. Chivalry is unnecessary spoiling and it raises women's egos way too high. Just the idea of chivalry is one-sided and completely antithetical to a healthy relationship. "Relationships should be 50/50" "But women also deserve special treatment by virtue of having a vagina" Give me a god damn break.

there is a certain line that is crossed. Example A, giving up a seat for a women. a women is not obligated to takes someones seat. Besides that, its best for EVERYONE to practice respect whether you are male or female.

This rule just doesn't apply anymore. It was used in the old days when women wore corsets, huge skirts etc. Dressing for women was expensive. (And an expense paid for by their men). The last thing you wanted her to do was to resort to leaning again a dirty wall, or sit on the floor. Also because there was no birth control, women of marriageable age, were often in a state of constant pregnancy.

I will give up a seat for a pregnant women, or a elder man or elder women but trust me, if someone gives me a dirty look because they expect me to just roll out the red carpet then im not doing nothing for them whatsoever. there are some women who are under the impression that you have to let them skip you in the line, or get up from your seat, give them your jacket etc.. and I cannot do that unless I want to, not just because she is a women

Many chicks now get really nasty with you if you do those things. Some have told me that "I'm not a weak woman!" So, I have backed away from behaving this way. I treat everyone equally... regardless of gender.
