Here are some tests:

- Casually bring up other guys you interact with. If he sweats bullets, he's worried you'll go off with someone else. That's because he thinks he's not worthy.

- Ask him to carry your purse in a public place. He might do it, but if he doesn't put up a fight, you're on a pedestal. I've carried a woman's purse occasionally, but only for a short period of time and I acted like it was indentured servitude and her purse was full of bricks

- Ask him to go clothes shopping with you. His answer should be one of the following: 1) no, 2) fuck no, 3) I'm sick that month, 4) I'd rather cut off my own eyelids, 5) I'll go if I can bring my real girlfriend, 6) lose my number. If it isn't one of these, he's either gay or you're on a pedestal.

If a guy tries to act much more pleasing (or mean) towards you than he does to most girls (especially ones that are less attractive), then he definitely put you on a pedestal. You should probably confront the guy about it, if he is making you uncomfortable and you want him to shatter this illusion.

Only you can truly know and usually other women get jealous because they see how he looks at you or hear rumors of how he speaks of you. Either way you would know when it happens. That takes a nose dive very often though, men hate feeling powerless and a woman like that could give him that feeling, so it's not all what it's cracked up to be.

But you know this behaviour isn't gender specific. Anyone that puts another on a pedestal will exhibit needy behaviour like texting back instantly and often, and being overly available for you; even cancelling plans with friends to hang out with you.

far too much of the back-and-forth play between men and women comes down to this almost ridiculous attempt to decipher signs and clues. there are differences psychologically between men and women, but they are actually quite subtle so this form of thinking rarely get you anywhere.

Doez he ever have original ideas or is it always what you want. And when he does have an idea is it from your encouragement or permission.
The best thing to do is communicate. Ask him what he believes he is doing. Ask him how he would feel if you treated him the exact same way. And dont be afraid to offend him. When i was a teenager i never once said "wow, these growth spurts feel great on my legs"
It may be uncomfortable but a mouth can be used for more than a kiss... talk to him.
