So, I have a crush on a co-worker and I've been wondering if it's mutual because although he hasn't made a move we do joke around a lot and I've already felt that he always finds excuses to talk to me. So, I speak Korean and he knows it and everytime he sees me he says hello in Japanese (he does know it's not the same thing) but today he called me sushi and when I looked he was like "why did you look?" and asked me how I was doing. Why did he call me that?

It just sounds like he is really awkwardly teasing you. Flirting a little bit maybe. I gotta say that is pretty weird though.

Without the context of you joke around and he finds reasons to talk to you I might think he is making fun of you but if the two of you get along well then it sounds like he is just trying to tease you.

Well, we do get along quite well. It's just that people tend to generalise Asian countries and give that Japanese food is more known than Korean food... and he's told me that he loves sushi

I mentioned in the post that he does know they're two different languages 😂 it's just that he doesn't know how to say hi in Korean and you know, people tend to generalise all Asian countries.
