What does it mean when a guy says he’s impressed by you?

We were all in a group talking about music and i was mentioning some artists i listen to and he kept giving me fist pounds and he told me he was impressed.

It depends. If I was that guy, and if I found you attractive, then saying this would be a way of comforting you. If I didn't find you attractive however, it'd be a way of saying that I like you for your taste of music.
So if he was showing more interest and was looking at you for longer than usual, I'd take the complements as a way of hitting on you. :)
