Why didn't he wished me a happy new year?

Him, I and few other friends were very close friends for almost a year. But I liked him from the moment I met him but he had a girlfriend. Then he broke up with his girlfriend and I took the opportunity to tell him how I feel. I waited for a month to tell him, and when I finally did, he told me that he just got back with that girlfriend. He said he's sorry and that he had no idea how I felt, but that he still loves her. I took it like a champ, told him that it's all cool and that we should just be friends. He agreed and we've been just friends as always ever since. Few days before new year's eve he asked me if I had any plans for that night and I told him I don't, that I will just be home chillin'. Then he asked me if I'm up to celebrating it together since he doesn't have any plans either. I asked him what about his girlfriend and he just said that he would rather not talk about that (?). I told him he's welcomed to come over if he wants to, but that I will probably have one more friend over as well (a female friend). He said okay. I haven't heard from him ever since. He wished a happy new year to all of our friends through text after midnight, but not to me. What gives?
