When you left him on read and called him out he assumed that there was nothing left to be gained. Blocking is just something some people do to others who they know they aren’t going to be talking to anymore. Cause if he forgets about this situation or what your username was, he doesn’t want to accidentally text you again or waste his time discovering that you are already a dead mission.

Most likely, he just wants to keep them for himself, but, unfortunately, yes, a few guys are dicks and will post them online. At this point, there isn't a lot that you can do, but blocking him is likely to make things worse rather than better, I'd imagine.
This is why you shouldn't send nudes with your face

Nudes... not with face or identifying marks (tattoos, scars, etc.)
Block him back. If blackmail attempt is made, DO NOT NEGOTIATE. One demand granted always leads to more demands. Damage control is all you can do.Why on earth anyone would send nude pictures over the Internet is a mystery to me given the growing incidence of revenge porn and black mail. Hopefully your face isn't in the pictures at least.
Only thing you should be worried is to who/why you send your pictures. Next time think twice. Maybe even more times.
Never include your face in nudes that you send to someone you don't know we'll.
I smell blackmail. I would close my Facebook and Instagram just incase he wants to blackmail you with sending pics to your family and friends
Why did you send nudes in the first place if you know people can screenshot them? You consented to screenshotting the moment you send nudes.
I hope your face wasn't visible in the nudes, else he could blackmail you...
Maybe just to be safe... Blocking? Weird...
Your fault for sending nudes
He got what he wanted.
Block his ass! And never show your face in nudes
Yeah block him.
