My guyfriends are all Tongan. They like it but usually not in super public places and when they're engaged, not at all. My other guyfriends are from everywhere and they tend to be different... My mainland guys are down for it anytime. Guyfriends from the islands it varies based on which island of the Pacific they're from. Philippines no not ever. Japan no Korea no China no. African guys yes. Hawaiian guys even will kiss you on the cheek as a greeting so yeah.
Culture really goes in on this one. But I think overall surprise hugs that aren't for a big significant event go more into the "girlfriend" category for my guys.

Being randomly hugged does feel nice. A lot of guys would be too nervous to randomly hug a girl for fear of appearing creepy. If a girl hugs a guy randomly it's more normal seeming. It's also nice when the girl does it first. The guy doesn't have to wonder if the girl actually wants to be hugged that way.

  For me at least I can't imagine a girl wanting me to randomly hug her. But that's just because I'm me. Maybe start giving hugs to them as you say goodbye or just randomly hugging them first. If it becomes normal to them then they'll be more likely to randomly hug you.

No when someone tries to touch me without my permission he/she gets a punch in his/her... I believe in equity so I don't think twice before punching someone.

Regardless of the gender, it comforting when someone hugs you. But not those half or side hugs that people give but a full proper hug 🤗
