Because society has made everything superficial. If a girl wears makeup everyday, has her nails done, and looks skinny, then she's perfect and deserves love. No one average or less ever gets the attention they deserve. But, I like to believe that God is just saving the perfect man for us, which is why us average girls don't have boyfriends yet. Here's what I'll say: instead of focusing on what other girls look like, focus on yourself. If you want a make over, get one. If you want to workout, do it. Also, write down the qualities you think are great about you! It's important that you feel secure about yourself rather than focusing on these other girls that look "better than you".
