I'm fine with a girl having some muscle tone, but I like her to LOOK soft. If I'm seeing abs or thigh muscles or biceps sticking out or anything like that, it is way too masculine for me, and it turns me off.

Not sure what you mean by muscular but I dated a professional (Olympic before) gymnast and the second best thing was how toned her body was. The absolute best was what she could do with that flexibility. One of my most fun runs for some time. I love girls who are toned

Then I think muscular is fine. In the type for whom the body of someone working in the field is great. It's not a lot of muscle, but it definitely is well defined and there's strength behind it. I hate it when someone trains just for muscle, as in a fight one would never survive

Stick with lighter weights and more repetitions if you just want tone. It's the increase in weights with fewer reps that add bulk.
