My Crush Waves And Says Hello Now - Does It Mean Anything?

I'm still in school and last school year my crush sometimes paid attention to me but sometimes he would walk past me without even acknowledging me. This year, recently he has been waving, saying hi/hello, nodding, or smiling at me and actually acknowledging me. I've had a crush for 3 years on him and he knows I exist. The thing is he is in none of my classes and he is a total girl magnet since lots of girls either like him or used to at least and I don't know if he only does it to me or does it to other girls too since it's not like he is in my class so I can see him talk to other girls or anything. Usually during lunch he is with his guy friends but I don't always hang around to watch since I have my own friends too. Do you think this means anything or nothing at all? Since I don't know how he is around other girls and if it's just a thing he does to girls or just me. He's usually smart, funny, athletic, I guess I could say he is kind as well. What do you think?

I smile or say hello back, usually just a smile since my confidence level isn't high enough to wave back since I don't know why but usually I only smile back.
