Generally, you can't grow long hair unless you are relatively young and healthy. Your hair thins as you age and loses health, so (with very few exceptions), older/postmenopausal women all have short hair.

Men's instinct, developed over hundreds of thousands of years, is to be attracted to women who are young and healthy and otherwise likely to be capable of reproducing (regardless of the man's age), so we're overwhelmingly attracted to traits that indicate fertility:

- relative youth
- good health
- visibly developed (post-pubescent) curves (note that humans are the only mammals where females have protruding breasts when NOT pregnant/lactating - this is believed to be a visual aid to help identify fertile women from a distance).

So, long, healthy hair is strongly associated with girls in their teens and 20s - the age that men of all ages find universally the most attractive, because it's the age when women are most likely to be fertile.

It's the same reason that the features on men that women are attracted to exist: because those features (strong, square jaw, broad shoulders, flat stomach, muscle tone) indicated strength and health.

It’s not they they don’t like it but unless you have some very attractive beautiful feature on you be it body, body part or face, while being next to another woman with longer hair, bets are they WILL feel more attracted to the longer haired girl, simply because she will look more “feminine” than you, even if your bib looks nice or whatever... femininity is and always will be more attractive to straight men...

So like I said unless you have some other aspect that would catch a guy’s attention, next to someone with long hair, they will always get more glances and such...

I am a long hair kind of guy. I can't describe it, maybe it is pure girl. It is not a deal breaker but when I see long hair it reminds me of feminine features. Just typing feminine into google this is what showed up when I clicked on images

when I see short hair I auto think guy, I need a couple of seconds to allow my mind to say it is a girl, not a guy and the same happens when a guy has long hair, I need a couple of seconds to force my brain to say its a guy not a girl. Long hair just naturally pulls me to a girl for some reason

I feel bob haircut doesn't suit most women, and even the ones who can pull it off look better with long hair. It is just a personal preference. I don't know if most men prefer long hair, if that is true then it must be a cultural thing. Men might prefer long hair because maybe long hair look more feminine, can't say for sure if that's the reason. I do think long hair look pretty and feminine.

Of course, long hair is the most overtly desirable and the most 'fertile' looking.

But that's a kind of juvenile attraction to women from juvenile people. People should be able to look past hair, looking at the whole. Attraction is based on a lot of things. Just because a woman has long hair, it doesn't mean she is attractive.

Guess what? Still liked them all the same.
In fact, in my personal opinion, some women look even better with short hair than they do with long.

I like bob haircuts on some women but I prefer longer hair in every occasion. It's just more attractive to me and I know a lot of men that say the same thing.

A girl may not look bad with short hair but almost all of them would look better with long hair. There are almost no exceptions.

I can accept a bob haircut, but it definitely needs to be styled in a way that is very different from this picture.
A bob calls for side part or messy hair.
You want volume on the top of your head, not the sides.
So, pretty much the opposite of this.

The problem with a bob is that you can't put it up. It's too short. And it doesn't hang and sway like longer hair. It's that weird in-between length that you mostly see on women who can't be bothered to care for long hair, but don't like the butch look of a more masculine pixie cut. I like bob haircuts, although I think the reverse bob haircut looks sexier. Only if the girl can pull it off, though. It definitely gives the girl a more mature look. So, maybe some guys don't like it because it can age a young girl into looking like she's 5-10 years older and they want someone that appears younger than them.

Long hair in general looks better on most women in my opinion but that doesn't mean girls with short hair can't be attractive. Long hair is seen as more feminine. I've been attracted to plenty of girls with shorter hair though. If they can rock it, rock it. There is some looks I don't mesh with so I avoid them. There are many different factors that go into attraction, hair is just one of them and it's a much smaller piece.

long hair is more feminine, but in the age of "tank ass", hair is about 1% of the "looks" equation. If you can find one in shape nowadays most everything else can be tolerated, at least looks wise
