Why does he look down when I try to say hi?

So I tried saying hi yesterday
and he looked at the floor the whole time we passed each other!
luckily his friend was there and said hi so I don't look as stupid :/

I'm so confused because we talked before and he seemed really nice and sincere!
He actually flirted with me at one point! and he keeps staring at me from across the room

so I'm dead out of options please help :)

He is shy probably and freaked out I don't know but do u know how weird it is to look someone u like in the eyes when talking to them? That mess is so weird bc u feel like they can see right through u and so he tries to hide it by either acting like he doesn't like u and avoids u and sometimes probably doesn't talk to u bc he doesn't know how OR he doesn't really avoid u but he just acts different with u then other girls. He can be the most outgoing with everyone else but all of a sudden gets all nervous when talking to u.
And if he is staring at u then obviously he is thinking about u whether its good or bad who knows it depends on how he stares lol

I do the same thing. I kinda avoid the guy i like because im so shy. Sometimes i give him hugs and say hey to him but i just find it so hard to talk to him and look at him in the eyes bc he'll know right off the bat that i like him bc i probably wouldn't be able to stop smiling and usually peoples minds go blank when they see the person they like and so he may not know what to say
