Why do guys make fun of me?

Sense the beginning of high school I’ve noticed that many of the guys in my class like to make jokes about me behind my back or laugh about things I say in class. They treat me a lot differently from all of the other girls in my grade and I feel like I don’t belong or fit in. I can be kind of shy and awkward sometimes but I try to help combat that with laughing along and trying to makes jokes to play it off. But doing this doesn’t really seem to help much. I feel like I can’t talk to the guys I’m interested in because I know that they see me as the “weird girl at school” and will probably say something mean to me. I feel like I can’t talk to a lot of my peers about the things things that I’m interested in and I have a hard time relating to the other girls. I don’t like being singled out but I don’t know what to do to fix it?

If I may guess, you are the type of girl who doesn't care about social status and dares to talk to the nerds, doesn't wear makeup often and doesn't party all that much. If I am right, then there's your answer, they see you as "weak" and unpopular, so they think they got the upper hand on you.
I can totally relate to what you are going through, because I am too right now. I just ignore them completelly and pray for the school year to be over.

ya I do try to ignore it for the most part. it’s just hard, it makes me feel pretty lonely😕. I am thankful for the friends I do have though but talking to guys I feel like is a whole different game 😕

I'm sorry that you have to go through this, but believe me that it will get better after high school.
I'm an odd ball now because I hang out with people who are out of high school and my boyfriend is in 2nd University year, so I am kind of experiencing the life out of high school right now. 😅

WellI’m really interested in things like computers and gaming but I don’t really like to talk about it. I don’t really like to talk in class that much because I hate being the center of attention plus I also have a tendency to daydream and not focus very well and it leads to some pretty embarrassing moments. I like to make my friends laugh too but a lot of people think I have a weird sense of humor or don’t get my jokes.

You sound very sweet and ahead of your time. Who cares what the masses say. Geniuses are always ahead of their time and mocked until at least 30 years after death. Do you.

I was in yours shoes, just ignore them after few weeks or months they will forget about you
