Why can't my boyfriend stand to see me cry even though he caused me to?

My boyfriend gets mad and fusses at me a lot and I am sensitive so I start to cry...and his actions, tone, and face change. He will start apologizing over and over and hug me and tells me he hates to see me cry. He does everything he can to make me smile which doesn't take much because I love him and adore everything he does(: but why does he just snap out of his mood when my eyes start to water?

My boyfriend does the same thing and since I have depression it doesn't take much to make me cry. Seeing as our bf's knows us by now and they know what not to do or say I'd say maybe they're a bit emotionally abusive. They obviously can't help being insensitive or assholes once in a while. Why cause us to cry then feel bad when we do your either a sadist or a asshole.
