Why does he keep explaining himself?

There's this guy I've been talking to and we haven't even known each other that long. Yes we talk a lot, yes we send long messages and yes I like talking to him. But we're not even close to dating.

• He says a lot of sorry when his replies are "late" (3 hours), I've told him multiple times already, he has his own life and he doesn't have to be on his phone all the time. Also: we're not even together. He often gives me the reason as well. I mean it's lowkey cute, but not necessary at all.

• He often sends me a message after a night out either saying goodnight or morning and how it went.

• Last night he met up with a girl friend, he hadn't seen for ages. He also told me, she stayed over to sleep, but nothing happened, etc. Like again: he doesn't have to explain himself?

He's acting like he might just be socially awkward and wants to be nice but doesn't know your interest level in him so he get nervous, thus all the sorrys and `splaining.

He's being considerate. Appreciate it. I definitely learned my lesson by questioning such cuteness.
