I should also say... your mum is wrong and it's a mean and undermining thing to say.
Some men won't be attracted to you because they want someone more outgoing. Other men won't be attracted to those more outgoing ones and might prefer someone like you. :) There are different personality types and different people are attracted to different ones. You need someone who appreciates you for how you are, not how you're not but are trying to be.
If you are failing to attract men and get boyfriends there may be reasons besides being quiet. Plenty of quiet, shy women get fantastic relationships, they just maybe have to look at how they go about trying to attract.
