Do guys confide in their brothers?

I talk to my sister about everything when it comes to potential relationships, but I don't have any brothers. Do brothers talk to each other about potential relationships? Who do guys typically talk to about these things?

I certainly don't. I barely remember my brother's birthday. I only recently found out the name of the girl he was dating, and only see him about once a week -- because we're in the same Lab on campus. If it wasn't for that I'd probably see him once a month or so. We're separate people who live separate lives, I generally don't treat him any differently than I would a stranger who I've known (but generally disliked) for years.

Plus he is no longer the guy I knew. I like the new him better than the old him, but I don't know the new him very well. :P New him is no longer a Christian. (Woo! One more for in Infidels!) New him no longer thinks sex is EVIL. New him is no longer an overweight loser. New him is no longer terrified of talking to strangers. Etc. So gratz to new him, but I'll not be telling that gossip-obsessed texting-maniac anything I wouldn't be willing to tell the New York Times.

From what I've seen, most guys don't 'share' or 'confide' in anyone about sex-related things they would want to see kept a secret. It seems like our public comments about women are limited to male bravado and "I'd hit that.", our less-sexual thoughts are kept to ourselves... which may disgust some women, but you also have to consider that the woman in question is likely to see a side of that man that his friends haven't seen. What some women call the "tender" side.

There is a conscious wall of separation between what we feel about a certain woman and what we say about women in general.Once you say something to your friends about that particular woman, she becomes a sort of... target for sport. (I'm not quite sure how else to say it.) Sort of like a jealous girlfriend going after a guy you like, I guess. This isn't always the case -- sometimes she is seen as 'his property', and thus becomes an unsuitable target for jokes or lewd observations. Either way, there is a difference in how she is treated the moment the guy 'marks' her as someone he's interested in.

Tldr: Guys tend to talk about sex, not relationships. Younger guys especially know that their friends are in relationships, but generally ignore that fact and solely focus on the sex to preserve their idealized concept of a hyper-masculline, sexually promiscuous and predatory male, surrounded by only slightly-less-masculine ('cause every guys wants to be Top Dog) male friends.

Guys don't really confide in other guys because we will rag on each other. It depends on the relationship I guess. I'd confide in a best friend though.
