This is normal. He's at an age where he is distancing himself from "mommy". He doesn't want to be seen as a child around his friends. Distaning himself from his mother is a way to do that. He'll continue to declare his independence for several more years.
He's probably not really ashamed. It's just part of the "weening process".

He's being rude, and you're probably overreacting.
A lot of guys go through this phase, he might have confidence issues that are deeply rooted. (meaning it would be hard to tell)
I think you should sit down with him at some point and tell him how it makes you feel.

Partly it's about him trying to grow into a young man, and not a boy looked after by mommy.
But I suspect there's also the fact that his friends likely make comments about you.He hit puberty! :-) He just wants to define his own personality towards friends... and parents are just embarrassing factors to them. Don't sweat it, he'll grow out of it eventually.
You are embarrassing him..
By being his mom!..
😂🤣😂🤣It's a teenage boy thing..I think its maybe due to the age difference between you and him which makes him uncomfortable when he is with his friends
He’s just being a kid. No kid wants their parents around when their friends are there. Definitely do not take this remotely personal. Just kids being kids.
Yes. They are kids. Kids don't want there parents around them. Let alone there step parents. I wouldn't take it personally. Your not there to be his friend anyway.
Children want time away from their parents just as parents want time away from their children and that is just the way it is.
Probably because you're 25 and hot... he feels his step mother would be a distraction.
How old is he by the way.stop embarrassing him 😂
Why would he be ashamed of you?
