He been texting me on whatsup and then told me his phone broke, whats a point liying this way? Is he actually lying?

Got to know a guy online. We live different countries, and been talking to him in a friendly manner, his been texting me first. I never initiated this conversations. All been easy- no pressure Then he stopped texting me.. I was like oh well, and did not text him first, so we did not speak for a months, then he started textinh me again and we been talking almost like every day. Then he sent me a voice message and said he enjoys my messages a lot then we been texting each other and next morning he texted me saying I hope you have an awesome day, his phone does not charge and broke I must use my laptop to come on here for a litle while.. and I texted him back asiking is any chance to fix it? The message been delivered status, but he never replied back.. almost three days he is not online on whats up and never replied me or got intouch So my question is : Is he lying that he broke his phone? And if he does - what is the point? Im not his girlfriend and like I never chased him and never bombarded him with messages? Why would he play these games for? Any reason? Im curious becuase he seemed interested and I was interested too and we talked about opportunity meeting up at some point and he was initiative and been texting so not sure

Here is a litle update,
First of all I want to thank all the guys who shared their opinion- your gfs/wifes must be lucky ones and you guys so lovely :)
And secondly, guess what the message popped out that he registered again on this website and looking for one and only.. used all my answers to his questions he asked as if for who I am looking for and put it on his profile.. so not sure what it waa and what the hell he wanted of me.. still a mistery

It is possible that he is qurantined with his family or girl frnd and doesn't want to talk to you till this phases passes by.. it is also possible that what he says has actually happnd.. I would say be clam and don't stress on things for now.. if he comes back with a lame excuse then you get to do the same with him
