I just confessed to a guy through text and he just reply with 'hahaha'. So I get confused of the meaning of it?

I just confessed to a guy and we've know each other like years but did not talk much. Yesterday was his birthday and I wished for him and confessed my interest for him. He replied 'hahaha' and thanks for the wish. Does it mean he is not interested? Why don't he just make it clear that he likes me too or not?

He's probably not interested. If he were interested the most probable reply would be 'I like u too'.
Just to be sure u should end your confession with 'do u feel the same way about me?'
