Guy swiped right on me but tells me he's not interested? What?

Basically, what would you think about a guy who swiped right on you FIRST, messaged you FIRST, and then tells you that he never saw you as anything more. Oh, and this is a guy that you semi-know. I asked him why he swiped right but didn't really answer the question. So I asked him directly if he liked me and that's the answer I got. I mean, I don't mind, but I'm not sure how to fully feel. Like is this a rejection it is he deflecting?

I just want to clarify that I was not going to message him in the first place. He started the conversation.

Hehehe well, actually many men swipe right to all women on tinder so their chances to swipe left to women they like decrease. This is because swipping for us is a time waste. so we rather to take our time to analyse a profile once we have matched. trust me, the average man doesn't get as many matches as the average woman does. My advice, don't take it personal, I mean. Is tinder 🤷🏻‍♂️

Well, it wasn't on Tinder, but again, he messaged me first so I didn't really see the point of have a conversation at all if he weren't interested in me.

Oh ok. That's odd. Well, this guy probably has his own issues, but then again, as said before, don't take it personal. I mean, you cannot expect having something real (real interest, real sex or real relationship) unless you're in fact in a date with who you've met online. Don't take for granted people on dating apps. Is just too impersonal, that's why having no expectations and letting yourself go with the flow is the best you can do.

I’ve done this before on a dating website. Because there are notifications when you match, I had to message someone because she was a former coworker. I let her know I wasn’t interested in dating her but wanted to reach out so she didn’t feel awkward that I had been looking at her online profile because she knew who I was. So he’s doing the same thing.

Of course that makes sense. But as I told others, I wasn't even going to message him. And when he did message me first, he didn't even address me like that. We were both surprised and I told him that I didn't expect us to match at all. It was just for giggles. And when I asked him why he swiped right, he didn't really answer the question. I would have totally been fine with him just saying that he swipes right on everyone. But he didn't say that. Then I asked him if he liked me and he said he never thought about it before. So yeah, that's why I'm confused.

Most guys swipe right on anything even remotely decent looking within a few seconds to cast the widest net possible, and only after we match with someone do we bother to actually read anything you said

Think about this scenario:

You're a guy on some dating site, and you gotta wait for a girl to swipe right on you before you can communicate. So you're probably right swiping anything remotely attractive while watching tv or something not really paying attention

It's only later that you come back and realize one of your matches is a girl you semi-know that you don't feel compatible with. Awkward... Well I can at least say high and see how she's doing :D
