Do guys only come back for an ego boost?

I saw this debate on Twitter but I do think it varies depending on the context of the situation. Two cases:
1. If the guy was actually into the woman, she walks away, then he will try to win her back time after time.
2. If the woman walked away because the guy was ghosting or playing games then he’s only back for another round of fun/games.
What are your thoughts?
